Camping in Suesca

The Aguilas (Eagles) after playing a game of camoflauge-dirty, tired, painted, but having fun!
At the valley camp (below), it was pretty rugged-the 2 toilets were a 5 minute hike up the mountain. But, the quiet hush of the fog in the morning, the beautiful sun and breeze during the day, and the brilliant stars at night made it an ideal place to camp. The kids enjoyed hanging out in the center of the valley at night (see how cute they are above).

Most of you know that I have many passions in my life, two of which are kids/teens and the outdoors! SO, last week I got to put the two together and have a great time. We hiked, repelled, caved, played nature detective and survival games, and thoroughly enjoyed God's creation and its beauty for 4 days!! This is not the first time I have gone camping or done outdoor actvities with youth, but I always enjoy the time away from the indoor setting of a classroom...and it made me continue to realize that God has created a passion in me for these two areas of life...I continue to hope and pray that Alan and I will be doing something like this full-time in the future. I will miss these 5th graders now that I am teaching 8th grade math (I started this past Tuesday)-but we will always remember our last intense week together- it was a blast!
