The End of Part Two
Today, there are no kids in school. There are only teachers and staff. Grades are being published, classrooms are being cleaned, and goodbyes are being said. I, (Alan), have been enjoying this week. I was physically finished on Monday with exams and grades. I am technically done on Friday with final check out and check pick-up. Liz has been working hard this week with final exams yesterday and grades due today.
Now our attentions turn to moving into a new apartment. We liked the old place but the new place is a little quieter, cheaper, and closer to school. Both Liz and I are excited to come home this summer to Dallas & Grand Rapids. We are returning for a third year to Colombia, yet we are also looking to the future and praying for God's direction.
Our second year here, has been a challenging one with a loss of a pregnancy, Liz switching teaching positions, and no chance to travel home for the holidays. However, we have learned a lot from being here this year, from political elections to fighting amoebas, from living the day-to-day of another culture to falling in love with Latin music. We look forward to our third year as I will be teaching in the high school again and Liz begins teaching Pre-AP math in the middle school.
What we are presently most eager to do is spend time with family and friends this summer. The days God grants us, and the future possibilities that are abundant before our eyes create an utter excitement in us. Thank you for your prayers this year. We have felt them.
This will be our last post for the summer, and we will begin again in August upon our return. Have a wonderful summer!
