Got Milk?

One of the subtleties of living in a different country is adjusting to some minor changes in diet. One of those for Liz and I was that of milk. In the States, we would buy milk by the gallon, and we would have to drink it before the expiration date. Here, in Colombia, we drink "long-life" milk from liter bags (as shown above). One of the first things that Liz and I had to figure out was how to open it and then how to place it back into the refrigerator so that it does not spill.
One of our first ideas was to buy a plastic container and pour the milk into it to store. That was a pain and it just didn't seem right. Finally, a Colombian told us about the container for the bag and how easy it is to use. It took us a while to find this container, but we prevailed. Now we drink "long-life" from liter bags which is held in a plastic container.
Life and its subtleties.

Interesting - I assume it is eradiated or something. Are other staple items hard to get? Do they sell peanut butter? Leave it to a southerner to ask - do they have grits or equivalent?
I served in the Army in France (just outside Paris) for almost two years ('60 to '62) and some things were very difficult or impossible to get. I don't think I had grits the whole time - I may still have scars on my psyche from that one. :o)
Do you guys have a church or chapel similar to back in the states? Hope so, man cannot live by peanut butter (or grits) alone. ec
Peanut Butter? The good kind is hard to find and three times as expensive. We won't even touch the bad kind, which is not even peanut butter. We don't even have grits either, but neither Liz nor I were raised on it.
Our church service is similar to to back home but in Spanish. We have learned to live without some treats but have also learned to enjoy new treats.
Hey, Al and Liz, I have been proctering classes doing end of semester class evaluations. Ran into a student...he said he went to Glen Rose High with you and he got saved a few years ago and feels led to minister in some way...Patrick Vauhan, 1997 and his email is easyyoke2003@yahoo.com.
Wow, I will try to make contact with him. Thanks mom.
